While bridal showers are starting to become more modern than before, certain practices remain the same. There is bound to be different groups of visitors – from family and relatives to high school friends and co-workers. Grandmothers and mothers are very traditional when it comes to correct etiquette so you should familiarize yourself with “the rules”.
More often than not, it is the maid of honor who organizes and makes the plans for the bridal shower. This is one of the etiquettes of bridal shower. This, however, does not occur when the maid of honor lives in a different town. If this is the case, another person may do the honors. But you should never take over without her knowledge for the title “maid of honor” comes the privilege of planning the shower. If you must take some steps, it is a must for you to let her know. The bridal shower etiquette states that a shower should happen approximately for or six weeks prior to the wedding ceremony. This is because the bride will naturally be busy days before the ceremony. Also, the visitors will be able to come to both the shower and the wedding.
Having a small and intimate gathering between the people closest to the bride is also one of the protocols of a bridal shower. Over the years though, this bridal shower etiquette is not being followed. In fact, a lot of people, particularly the rich and famous, normally hold elegant and big bridal showers. This is not how a bridal shower should be held, at least by ancient traditions. If you really want to practice the proper etiquette, it would be better to simply have a few guests, say twenty to thirty attendees. By applying these traditions, you will be able uphold the real essence of a bridal shower.
